Understanding Dental Insurance: Dental insurance is best defined as a benefits plan. This means that dental insurance is designed to help cover a portion of the total cost of your treatment needs. Your dental insurance coverage is not determined by your dentist. Most dental insurance plans are obtained through work employment, where contracts are made between your employer and a dental insurance company. Each individual contract determines the level dental insurance coverage. In general, the less expensive the plan, the lower the dental benefits. Please note that treatment recommendations are made according to what is deemed best for your child, not by the level of insurance coverage.
